Talkio is a speech pronunciation practice app for kids ages 4–7. Your child listens to a word or sentence, repeats it into the microphone, and gets instant, encouraging feedback. It's designed to be a fun daily companion for pronunciation practice, not a replacement for professional speech therapy.
No. Talkio has no account, no email, and no sign-in. Your child's name is optional and only used to personalize the in-app greeting and (if you choose to set one) the leaderboard.
Speech recognition itself can work on-device on many iPhones/iPads. An internet connection is required, though, for progress syncing, the leaderboard, ads, and subscription purchases.
From the Home screen, use the Words/Sentences switcher and tap any pack card (Animals, Actions, or Things) to start practicing. Progress within each pack is saved automatically, so your child can resume right where they left off.
Speech recognition can occasionally mishear a word, especially in noisy environments or with younger children's pronunciation still developing. Try practicing in a quiet room, holding the device 6–12 inches from your child's mouth. If a word keeps getting misheard, your child can tap "Skip this word" (or the Skip button in the top corner) to move on — the first few skips in a session are free.
Each practice session includes a few free skips. After those are used, skipping requires watching a short, skippable ad — or upgrading to Talkio Premium for unlimited skips with no ads at all.
Open Settings within the app and toggle off "Daily reminder." You can also manage notification permissions directly from your device's Settings app under Notifications > Talkio.
Progress is tied to a device identifier that can persist even if you delete and reinstall the app (it's stored in the Keychain, which may sync across your devices via iCloud). If you'd like your data fully reset, contact us below and we'll take care of it.
First, confirm microphone access is enabled: Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone, and make sure Talkio is turned on. Also check Settings > Privacy & Security > Speech Recognition for the same. If both are enabled and it's still not working, try closing and reopening the app.
These permissions are required for the app's core feature: hearing your child repeat a word and checking their pronunciation. Audio is processed in real time to transcribe speech and is not saved or stored by Talkio.
Talkio shows occasional ads to keep the app free, configured for child-directed treatment — no personalized/behavioral ads, and no advertising identifier is collected. Ads are limited to Google's "General" content rating.
Talkio Premium removes ads entirely and unlocks unlimited skips during practice. Subscription management (available to parents) lives behind the in-app Parent Area, which requires solving a simple randomized math problem to reach.
Subscriptions are managed entirely through Apple, not within Talkio. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, select Talkio, and choose Cancel Subscription.
All payments are processed by Apple, so refund requests must go through Apple directly. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request a refund for any purchase.
Open the Parent Area in the app and tap "Restore Purchases." Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
No. Voice audio is processed in real time to transcribe spoken words and is not saved or stored by Talkio.
